STORY 1. A Hero's Offspring
One would think, what is easier than being a usual boy in the common world? Our Nicky is exactly such a boy. But if your father is a legendary hero, it is not so simple.
Before Nicky’s birth, he overthrew the last monstrous creature in this world – the Last Firedrake! Although the Firedrake was a huge horrifying reptile and his disappearance made everybody happy, and the world became absolutely normal, something was missing for Nicky. In fact, the world got too normal without leaving a teeny tiny place for wonders.
The hero's son is longing for magic! In addition, his fellow boys are always mocking our poor guy trying to dare the hero's offspring do something and Nicky doesn't seem to have real friends..Which is why he dreams of such a friend as the Firedrake who is supposed to be enchanted and powerful!
STORY 2. A Heroic Chicken
Once in the summer KIR the Tanner brings Nicky to his father Dan who lives in a secluded hut in the woods.
Here, Nicky meets an unusual chicken named Pho-Pho who has actually seen his dad's fight with the Firedrake. The chicken has a secret to reveal. It turns out, everything didn't happen the way they say it did.
The boy learns that one doesn't have to be big and strong in order to become a hero. Pho-Pho disappears as quick as he appeared. Nicky starts questioning his grandpa but all he gets in response is that the chicken incident was probably just a dream.
STORY 3. A Hatched Calf
Nicky makes a lot of effort to find the strange chicken – he certainly has to prove to his grandpa that it wasn't just a dream. Instead, he observes another phenomenon: a cow – wait for it – comes flying into his grandpa's yard.
After watching the cow flying up to the barn, Nicky finds out that the cow has been dreaming of becoming a bird and that she has already built herself a little nest. The boy recalls having seen an enormous egg in the house so he brings it to the cow.
In the night, while Nicky is asleep, a very unusual calf hatches from the egg. In the morning the grandpa suggests that Nicky should keep this 'battle steed'. The boy decides to name the calf Draco after the Firedrake defeated by his father.
STORY 4. An Wary Woodkid
Nicky travels around on Draco's back and eventually ends up in the Drolly World inhabited by magical creatures, where incredible wonders take place.
Without even realizing where he is, Nicky releases a little woodkid named Tricky from a trap. This cocky madcap lives as a recluse and doesn't trust anyone.
But after being rescued from an evil giant named Crook, Tricky, for the first time in his life, feels grateful to someone and this someone happens to be Nicky. This is how a friendship between a human boy and a woodkid starts.
STORY 5. A Water Princess
Tricky is trying to get to the Green Ways which can lead you everywhere. But the Forest Spirits don't let him get there because they are mad at him because of his constant pranks. As a matter of fact, Tricky mocks everyone who is weaker than he is.
By an unfortunate chance the woodkid finds himself at the Blue Lake. Its resident – a nixie named Ivy – turns out to be one of those who Tricky has formerly offended.
She has been forced to lead a solitary life far from home and bone up the Magic theory under the steady supervision of a sharp-nosed tutor – Heronimus the Stork. Nicky's kindness becomes the thing that helps the characters to make a deal.
STORY 6. A Gang of Squirrels
Now Nicky spends all of his time with his new friend. But there appears a problem when it becomes clear that Tricky is completely incapable of sharing.
Having refused to give one nut to a little squirrel, he gets into a fight with a whole bunch of squirrels who are his old foes and loses an entire bag of nuts.
In order to cheer up, he invites Nicky to teeter on a Strawberry Swing. After watching his friend enjoy rocking on huge strawberry sprouts, Tricky becomes happier than usual. In the end, the woodkid understands a simple truth – when you share, you double what you've got.
STORY 7. Gummies the Woodworms
Gummies the Woodworms are sort of caterpillars who can stretch themselves like rubber. Inventive Tricky ties a gummie onto his slingshot – he thinks he is making a good weapon against such big fellow as Crook. But he hasn't thought everything through – he finds out that Gummies turn into butterflies upon eating magic pollen. And, of course, this happens at the most inconvenient moment.
When a gummie girl becomes a butterfly she is free but she doesn't want to fly away without her friend who is stuck on Tricky's slingshot. Nicky insists on letting the gummie boy go but the woodkid doesn't want to do this and stands his ground.
However, everything changes when a little gummie saves the friends from trouble.
STORY 8. The Lunar Mountains
This time Tricky and Nicky really need to get to the Lunar mountains and the only way to do that is follow the Green Ways. An it has become possible! Do you want to know why? Our kind-hearted Nicky has persuaded Tricky to make up with the squirrels.
But.. oops, tough luck and a new challenge – Nicky is afraid of heights! Tricky gives him Ducker the Intaker which is a magic thing where one can outbreathe their fears. The magic works. However, when our heroes are in danger, Nicky doesn't have a chance to use the Ducker as he has lost it.
The very last moment our guys are being rescued by Draco – a true friend like him could never get lost.
STORY 9. A Loser Pirate
Little Mermaid Ivy is terribly bored and makes a wish: she wants to experience an adventure. The dream soon comes true and a real Pirate named Slippery Clip invites the water princess to join his team. The girl accepts the offer in spite of Heronimus's prohibition.
At first the girl really enjoys the life among pirates but everything changes when Clip's gang captures her friends. Ivy tries to rescue them but, unfortunately, she has already lost her magic powers because of constant breaking the laws of magic.
Only true friends are now able to save the heroes.
STORY 10. A Mobile Lake
Ivy is very sad about the fact that she cannot leave the lake and set off on a journey with her friends.
In order to cheer her up, Nicky and Tricky fashion up a “mobile lake” for her. It is made as a common barrel on wheels with some sand and lake water inside of it. The heroes go out for a walk despite Heronimuse's stop them. The old stork knows a dark secret – Ivy mustn't step on the ground. But how could one stop a little fairy who is longing for adventures? Upon the road the barrel breaks down. Ivy ends up in the middle of a small puddle.
She is in danger but the friends never let their fellows down.
